Team Soggy Tritons and Others Roll into TA3 in the Dark

While many teams coming off the water at TA3 were dealing with wet clothing and gear, one team made it to transition in another fashion. Due to time constraints, all-female Team Soggy Tritons had to abandon the paddle portion of their race and continue to transition area 3 on bikes. With temperatures plummeting into the night, they had missed the first time cutoff on course. In true adventure racing spirit though, they kept on going.

Instead of the paddle, Team Soggy Tritons rode their bikes to Transition Area 3 where they regrouped, rested up, and headed out onto another bike leg. For those counting at home, that’s three bike sections in a row with a total of over 50 miles of trails in total. Undaunted by missing the paddle, the team is still in great spirits and excited to move on. Love to see it, and congratulations to Team Soggy Tritons, the winner of this year’s Spirit Award!

After our chat with Soggy Tritons, we had another chance to check in with Race Director Chris from GMARA about the state of the race.

We also found Team Broad Run Racing in transition and took a moment to ask about their plans for the remainder of the course:
